A wee poem I wrote as I pondered the stillness and silence of the desert - the first landscape archetype of the Wild Soul Woman e-course.
Silence
As I let it enfold me
my breath deepens
my heart slows
my senses heighten.
The ticking clock
birdsong
A whiff of sage
The long shadows
Moisture on my tongue
The pen in my hand.
In the silence
I am still
I am complete.

lovely poem :) have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You too :) xx
DeleteThis looks like the place one of my main yoga DVDs was filmed! Very peaceful, indeed... perfect for stretching and meditating.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it does :) It's African bushland - my kind of desert. Cannot be doing with miles of featureless sand - need some outcrops and trees to make it interesting :D
DeleteI like how you mixed the real with the imagined, putting a ticking clock together with birdsong and sage to show how your awareness expanded beyond the room where you were sitting when you wrote the poem. Nicely done! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got that, Meg! I kept wondering about the ticking clock... but decided to keep in it - to 'place' me...

Claire you do a beautiful job of engaging all the senses! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. I need to go to that stillness in myself more often.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, Claire ~ I love your sensory descriptions and the last line, 'I am complete.' :) p.s.I'm not an anonymous stalker ~ I'm Jaccqueline from Tao of Scrumble (http://taoofscrumble.com)
