Preparing my Wild Soul...

Tomorrow I begin this amazing e-course. I've loved the book, and I can't wait to join with over 200 Wild Soul Women around the globe. (I've started a page at the top of the blog to record my experiences over the next 6 weeks.)

Since Summer Solstice, I have been wearing this

It reads:

Listen to the words of the Great Mother, For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and mine is joy on earth; for my law is love unto all beings.

I actually bought this when I was pregnant with our daughter (she's almost 18 now), and while I've worn it many times before, for some reason this time seems deeply significant...

And on Saturday, I received this beautiful silver pinky ring, which Sharon custom made in double-quick time, so I could wear it throughout the course (and beyond!). It's just too perfect!!

I have also started writing in this journal which I've been saving for a special occasion.

I bought it from Ebay for a bargain as it was already monogrammed. The seller thought I was a VW car enthusiast(!), but for me these initials can only be this woman's (even though I know Virginia was her second name).

She was a wild soul... One of my all-time favourite quotes is this...

... and to me only a wild soul could know this.

I've written that I've struggled with the phrase 'Wild Soul Woman' for a while as it's rather overused and too often it speaks of a fierceness and a warrior-stance that really isn't me...

But I'm discovering through Mary Reynolds Thompson's five Earth archetypes a broader range of wildness...

I am instinctively drawn to the Forests and the Grasslands, although I'm sure through this 6-week course, I'll connect more deeply with the Oceans, the Mountains and the Deserts...

And I'm already discovering a gentler, greening wildness to which I'm keen to subscribe :)

  1. Sounds very interesting, I look forward to hearing more. I find any words that are used a lot lose their integrity in this kind of work for me. I also had an aversion to fierceness but am learning to be fierce and gentle, like the bears that keep cropping up in my life :)

    1. Yes, mama bears personify that combination for me :)
I know I could certainly be fierce if anyone threatened my kids...

  2. I've always been the fierce, fighting kind of wild... but as I near 50, am discovering the greening, as well. Still and all, my soul will always be more the wild rocks and moors of Scotland than the jungle. Everyone's got their flavor, their facet.

    1. Me too! Too many huge spiders in the jungle!!! And wise words - we all do indeed have our own flavour (love that image!) xx

  3. So happy you have the opportunity to take this journey and receive all of it's offerings. I'm okay with fierce since I've altered my definition of the word. Fierce is just one of the things I am, or can be at times. I am so much more as well. As we all are. Peace and Blessings

  5. I've never heard that quote before but I sure do like it. I'll be using it a lot. "I am rooted, but I flow." I love it. My husband's nick name for me is wild thing. Oddly enough, I just bought a shirt with the words, wild love on the front of it, but I've never heard anyone use the term Wild Soul. It sounds fresh and new to me. I always tell people that I am quiet and reserved with a wild streak. Maybe I should tell them I have a wild soul, and that I am rooted and I flow.
