I Had a Dream...

I rarely remember dreams (mainly as my night-time meds knock me out!), but on the odd occasion I do, I write them down straightaway...

Last night I again saw Elen pretty much as shown on this card I recently bought from here

As she did the other week, she greeted me saying, 'You are a Walker of the Ancient Ways, welcome!' And off I strode over the hill (I'm always able-bodied in my dreams :) )

Just like the other week, it started to rain, and once again I noticed there were symbols in the raindrops... RUNE RAIN! Now, in the earlier dream, as I journeyed, I paused to 'read' what was written in the puddles that formed between the rocks, and I read
Selene (my given name in the Forest)
Moonwater

You Know
Trust
Now that was all incredibly awe-inspiring and magical (and I journalled for pages the other week!), but in last night's dream as I journeyed, Elen came with me; and as I paused in front of a large puddle thinking I would again find Rune messages written just for me, as I bent over, I saw my reflection, and I WAS A REINDEER!

Now, I've NEVER experienced a change in form in a dream, and I was terrified! I looked up at Elen panicked beyond belief! She stroked my neck and calmly said, 'Drink! Drink the Rune Water.' So I drank long and slow, and I could feel the sweet water cooling my throat, relaxing my panic...

I realized all I wanted was to drink and drink, long and deep... no matter what messages were written, the words were irrelevant... I just wanted to 'Let the soft animal of my body love what it loves'.

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
Mary Oliver
Now, this poem has been a favourite for years, but as I was writing about this dream this morning, I turned to the poem and saw it as for the first ever time... It was the greatest of gifts... The dream was the greatest of gifts... This journey I'm embarking on is the greatest of gifts...
I am SO blessed!!

And I'm so aware I'm describing all this poorly, inadequately, but I'm hoping you can get a glimmer of what I mean... And if any of you have experienced changing form in a dream, I'd love to hear about it - it's still freaking me out a bit...

  7. It's great that you are dreaming and remembering! I dream a lot, but mostly jumbles of stuff that's either nonsensical or just stressful (think "going to school and can't find the classroom", all night long). However, I have had magical dreams where I put my arms down tight next to my body, lean forward... and fly! I love flying dreams - they're always very memorable and seem important when I wake up, sometimes for hours afterward. The strangest thing about my flying dreams is that I am always aware that I am asleep and dreaming, and I think to myself "that means I can fly!"... and so I do. Wishing you bright blessings on your new spirit journeys!

  8. Wow, that is one awesome dream! Changing shape is not something I've dreamed about, but I often change perspective in my dreams, which I take as a reminder that life is all about how we look at it.
